The Cowboy and the Heiress A Charming Romantic Comedy edition by Jacqueline Diamond Romance eBooks Reviews
I love this author and always load up on her books for vacation reading as I know they'll be a fast-paced with lots of heart. The Cowboy and the Heiress was no exception. First of all, an RV used in multiple car chases? Woo hoo! Then this mis-matched pair masquerades as the battling Bickersons at a couples' therapy weekend in the wilderness to catch a Black Widow before she strikes again. Wow. I can whole-heartedly recommend this book and not just for vacations.
The Cowboy and the Heiress is as good as the best Reese Witherspoon films--full of fun, wit, calamity, and romance. The fantasy couple near the opening is as charming as charming gets, and the villain—well, she’s your worst gold-digging nightmare. The hero is sexy, the love scene in the central part of the story is subtle and beautifully crafted, and the heroine is madcap funny. And not least—the writing is superb.
In The Cowboy and the Heiress, bounty hunter Jon Everett mistakenly kidnaps Maddy Armand, an 'at-loose-ends' rich young woman. When they spot Jon's true quarry, Gloria, they travel together in Jon's motorhome following the fugitive to a couples retreat. Maddy is captivated by the adventure Jon offers in his occupation and insists on helping him capture Gloria. At the retreat, Jon and Maddy must pretend to be a newly married couple whose marriage is in trouble. Because they no almost nothing about each other, their interactions with other guests and counselors lead to some laugh out loud moments.
The author of this book created likable characters and put them in a variety of situations…some of them unexpected. There were a number of surprises in the story as well. If you like romantic comedy at its finest, this book is for you, and I highly recommend it.
The Cowboy and the Heiress by Jacqueline Diamond is a two hundred and three page, fiction/paranormal/romance. I almost hesitate to list paranormal in there because there is so little of it. In fact, that part could easily be removed and the story would really not have changed much, but it works and gives it that extra bit of flair. The story is written in third person and the POV switches between the two main characters nicely, every chapter, each time moving the story forward.
Bounty Hunter Jon Everett handcuffs and kidnaps Madeleine (Maddy) Armand. After realizing he has the wrong girl and that Maddy is an heiress, trouble ensues and sparks fly between the two. Before long she is helping him. Jon has a few tricks up his sleeve and there are a few twists you do not expect. I could easily see this book as a made for TV movie on the Lifetime channel.
A Surprisingly refreshing romance. Jacqueline Diamond had managed to mix fantasy, mystery and romance all in one great book. Jon Everett and Madeleine Armand are two people from vastly different worlds. Jon's a bounty hunter with a chip on his shoulder, Maddy is an heiress with father issues. Their path crosses because of a case of mistaken identities or was it magic.
Jon mistakes Maddy for the treacherous and murderous Gloria Hess. Just before they meet, Maddy stops in a curious curio shop where she meets two rather strange individuals. Ariel and Tuck who for all the world seemed like text book elves to Maddy, but who believes in elves, right? The couple behaves as if they had been waiting for her all along, and present her with a matching set of wedding rings.Since she is not even currently dating anyone, she refuses them, but something about the rings almost compels her to want it on her finger. The couple tells her that they will only sell her one of the rings and that the other was destined for someone else. Although this seems odd she buys the ring. Just as she makes her purchase a young boy comes in and steals the other. She skates off after him, she sees him talking to a man (Jon) and he takes off. Little does she know that he sold the match to her ring to this man. This is where the story gets truly interesting.
The writing is excellent and the story moves at a pace that gives you time to enjoy each situation without boring you to tears. You will become increasingly enamored with the couple and you will also enjoy glimpses into the lives of the people that they meet. This one is a winner for Jacqueline Diamond and should be on your list of books that you have to read this summer.
This book was recommended to me as a light comedic romance, which is was in most of the book. The fact is that the book has a touch of paranormal at the beginning and end of the book that adds a delightful flavor to the encounter.
Jon Everett is a sometimes bounty hunter but really he wants one felon, a murderess named Gloria who is worth $100,000 in rewards, but unfortunately (fortunately for our story) Maddy (the Heiress) looks alot like Gloria and the chaos begins.
This is not a "love at first sight" exactly, it is and it isn't (refer back to that touch of paranormal) but the story is done exceptionally and just when I thought i knew where the story was going the author would throw in an unexpected twist. The secondary characters were not developed much but the main couple took the stage for almost all of the book and really pulled the story off very well.
The story has some serious moments since dealing with a killer is not quite a joke but the whole story was enjoyable.
I have to give this a 4 in general and a 5 for romantic comedy and I have to say that this would make a great movie. Highly recommended as a "comfort" read on the beach or just a rainy weekend.
